Shawn Andrews texts another member of local media

So far Shawn Andrews has texted little tidbits about his situation to Dave Spadaro, Reuben Frank, and NBC's John Clark. So far he has yet to speak publicly in anyway about his.. situation.

But he continues to text. This time, ESPN Radio 950.

"You can let them know all the rumors are not true.  From contractual to retirement, and GOD knows whatever else is being said!!  I'm prayed up right now and trying to get right."

Surely the likes of Les Bowen, Howard Eskin, & G Cobb are all waiting with baited breath for their Andrews text...

Shawn, since it seems to be the only way you communicate these days... here's my text to you.  read more »

Carlos Rogers recovering from injury and habitual misspelling of his last name

Even as the rest of his teammates join him in injury daily, the word today from various places is that Carlos Rogers is making big strides towards returning to the field. Before we get to that, I just want to stress how important cornerbacks are for a defense. We've previously gone over the trials and tribulations of the 2006 Washington Redskins defense, but it's worth remembering. Shawn Springs goes down to injury and the entire thing collapses because we don't have the requisite depth in the secondary to survive that particular disaster. A great philosopher put it best:

I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left.

Carlos Rogers Plans to Play

Surprising news in the Washington Post today, courtesy Jason Reid:

Rogers plans to play when Washington kicks off the NFL’s regular season schedule on Sept. 4 against the New York Giants at Giants Stadium, and he said he is confident about achieving his goal. When Rogers comes back, he will rejoin a unit that was among Washington’s strengths during its late-season push to the playoffs and could be deeper this season because of an infusion of youth.

The former first-round draft pick is eager to regain his position in the cornerback rotation, but the Redskins want Rogers back only at full strength.

Preseason Preview: IND vs WAS

The NFL preseason kicks off Sunday night, and we're beyond excited. Each day this week we'll run a look at the scouting points for the Hall of Fame Game featuring the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins.

Colts Offense:

QB: The elephant in the room is that Peyton Manning will miss the entire preseason with a knee injury. This is not something to take lightly, and the battle for #2 could quickly become the fight for #1.

Quinn Gray was signed in the off-season to compete with incumbent Jim Sorgi. All reports are that Sorgi has had a good camp, but Gray is more of a natural passer. He played well in spot duty for Jacksonville in 2007 and has the touch the Colts offense thrives on. Jared Lorenzen is most likely a camp body until Manning returns from injury.  read more »

Brett Favre Files For Reinstatement

He finally faxed the paperwork into the league office and filed for reinstatement. He has to force the Packers into taking action because they just want him to go away. Favre made a mistake by retiring too early, but GM Ted Thompson has been making all the mistakes this month. Favre has shown patience in trying find some possible alternative, but training camp has begun and he can't wait any longer while Thompson is still hoping the whole thing goes away.

Gene Wojciechowski at ESPN has a very good summary of the current situation, unfortunately he doesn't know what Thompson is going to do either:  read more »

Earthquake rattles Cowboys training camp (AP)

Leonard Davis rolled over to see if somebody was shaking his bed, but none of his Dallas Cowboys teammates were in the room. That's when the 353-pound offensive lineman realized he had just experienced an earthquake. "I was just laying there, about to go to sleep," said Davis, who like many of his teammates had never felt such a tremor.
