...UPDATE...
Josh from Cincy Jungle, our Cincinnato Bengals Blog, had the following to say in terms of what it would take GM Bruce Allen to pry WR Chad Johnson away from the Bengals:
"Draft picks. With age on the front line and an assortment of B-list players at linebacker, a complete overhaul on defense is needed. The interesting assumption is that Head Coach Marvin Lewis is using key phrases like 'blow this thing up' or 'start from the ground up'. [In terms of Draft Picks], I'm expecting a second round pick.
If Chad MUST go with no chance of playing with the Bengals in 2008, then they'll take what they can get. If he doesn't, and pipes down and lets things play out, then the Bengals will milk it. Then again, our front office isn't necessarily the genius types either. But it depends on how the front office views the situation. With that said, there's really no feeling of urgency to let Chad Johnson go, right now.
Training camp is a time of optimism. Every team has a shot at the Super Bowl and every question has an answer. Here are the biggest questions and answers each AFC team has heading into training camp.

And with the 48th pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select:
Oklahoma CB Reggie Smith
Chris with the pick:
With CB DeAngelo Hall now an Oakland Raider, it makes a lot of sense for the Falcons to use their third pick of the second round on a solid cornerback. The current bunch of CBs and DBs on the Falcons are extremely young, meaning a player like Reggie Smith could step in immediately amidst the current competition.
A first-team All-Big 12 selection, this is about the time in the draft that most have Smith going. A good value for the Falcons third pick of the second round.
And with the 46th pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select:
Oklahoma ILB Curtis Lofton
jimme with the pick:
He is the BPA at this time, and I'm not overly impressed with the Cards LBers. Lofton should be able to play inside in the Cards hybrid defense, both in the 4-3 and 3-4. read more »
We looked at the RBs. Then did so more closely. Now, a gander at the QBs in the National Football League. Again, this is just subjective opining from me, and I'm not evaluating careers, just who I think is the better bet at QB for the future.

I started wondering about this the other day when it was announced that Coughlin's 4-year, $21 million extension with the Giants had become official. He has long been considered a good coach. Now that he has a Super Bowl championship to add to his resume, and has built a better relationship with his players, he has to be considered upper echelon. Coughlin has a 103-89 career record, a Super Bowl title, another conference championship game appearance with Jacksonville and 8 playoffs wins in 14 tries. No matter what you think of him personally, that is pretty impressive.
Compared to the head coaches of the other 31 NFL teams, where does Tom Coughlin rank?
Sometimes when I tell people I fear I'll never see the Vikings win a Super Bowl, they try to assure me that I will. I'm young, and there are a lot of years left--chances are they'll win a title sometime. But "Why?" I say. The Cubs haven't won a championship in 100 years--I'm sure some Cubs fans in the last century were assured by friends that the odds are they'll see a Cub World Series win, but most assuredly some of those Cubs fans are now dead. read more »
