Jacksonville Jaguars 2008 Schedule: A breakdown

A deeper look at the Schedule:

Week 1:   AT

Jacksonville Jaguars AT Tennessee Titans:
Opening day starts just like last season, except it's in Tennessee's home turf.  Last year we looked horrible against the Titans but put together a solid season nonetheless.  Winning our division starts winning on the road, opening the season 1-0 and the division 1-0 is very important.  No room for excuses here, the Jaguars must come out hot.  read more »

2008 NFL Draft Grades:The AFC

The 2008 NFL Draft Winners and Losers: THE AFC DRAFT REVIEW By Rick Weaver : Carolina Panthers NFL Columnist KANSAS CITY CHIEFS "A+" WINNER The Kansas City Chiefs had multiple needs going into draft day and they had 13 picks to work with. Thanks to a deal with the Minnesota Vikings the Chiefs traded away pro-bowl defensive end Jared Allen and received the Vikings 1st round, 17th pick overall and they got both of the Vikings 3rd round picks, plus the teams swapped their draft positions in the 6th round. Allen was statistically the best defensive end in the NFL last year with 15 1/2 sacks while playing in only 14 games. Allen was one of the bright spots on a team that was reportedly "rebuilding" last season.  read more »

TUNNELL VISION: THE 2003 DRAFT REVISITED, PART 2: AFC

PART 2 of 2: AFC AFC East Buffalo Bills 1 Willis McGahee, running back 2 Chris Kelsay, defensive end 3 Angelo Crowell, linebacker 4 Terrence McGee, cornerback 4 Sam Aiken, wide receiver 5 Ben Sobieski, guard 6 Lauvale Sape, defensive tackle 7 Mario Haggan, linebacker Len Pasquarelli C+ Richard Harris C- Mel Kiper B The Bills had their choice of RBs in the draft, passed on Larry Johnson, and took McGahee, who didnt play in 03 and averaged less than 4.0 yards/carry in his three seasons with the Bills. Now with the Ravens, hes been ok, but not special. Kelsay is a good starter on the defense. The same goes for Crowell and McGee, who's made a Pro Bowl as a return man.  read more »

Time to move on .. Patriots STILL the best in the NFL

Time to Move On
Patriots Still Consistently the Best

If you're still "mourning" the New England Patriots' Super Bowl XLII loss, stop it. Remember who we are: We're fans of the best week-in, week-out football team in the National Football League.

Sure, it really stinks that New York beat them Sunday. Sure, it would have been unbelievable to have celebrated the only undefeated 19-win season in history, the greatest single season ever (and it arguable still is).  read more »

Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #48 by the Atlanta Falcons

And with the 48th pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select:

Oklahoma CB Reggie Smith

Draft Profile

Chris with the pick:

With CB DeAngelo Hall now an Oakland Raider, it makes a lot of sense for the Falcons to use their third pick of the second round on a solid cornerback. The current bunch of CBs and DBs on the Falcons are extremely young, meaning a player like Reggie Smith could step in immediately amidst the current competition.

A first-team All-Big 12 selection, this is about the time in the draft that most have Smith going. A good value for the Falcons third pick of the second round.

Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #46 by the Arizona Cardinals

And with the 46th pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select:

Oklahoma ILB Curtis Lofton

Draft Profile

jimme with the pick:

He is the BPA at this time, and I'm not overly impressed with the Cards LBers. Lofton should be able to play inside in the Cards hybrid defense, both in the 4-3 and 3-4.  read more »

Ravens Look To Rebound Against Colts

The Baltimore Ravens have posted an o-for the last five times they've taken on the Indianapolis Colts, including the 44-20 smackdown they absorbed last year in front of their home fans. The team was decimated with injuries and had just come off an emotional and upsetting loss to the undefeated New England Patriots only six days earlier. This time, they're coming off two emotional and upsetting losses, including one in front of their home town fans. Huh, sounds similar? I think not.

There is a huge difference between the current status of the two teams from last season to now. Both teams are playing .500 ball at 2-2, and while the Ravens are just 6 points away from being 4-0, the Colts were just four minutes away from being 1-3. However, that is the difference between good teams and not-so-good ones. The good teams find a way to pull games out at the end, while the not-so-good ones find ways to lose them. The Ravens seem to find a new and exciting way to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" almost every week lately, and until they find a way to win those close games against good teams, they will remain in the not-so-good category. In order to be mentioned among the league's elite, you have to win the close games and beat teams that supposedly are thought to be better than you. The Ravens have done neither while the Colts have floundered, but still showed signs of resurging to the upper echelon of the AFC.  read more »

How many coaches are better than TC?

Compared to the head coaches of the other 31 NFL teams, where does Tom Coughlin rank?

I started wondering about this the other day when it was announced that Coughlin's 4-year, $21 million extension with the Giants had become official.

He has long been considered a good coach. Now that he has a Super Bowl championship to add to his resume, and has built a better relationship with his players, he has to be considered upper echelon.

Coughlin has a 103-89 career record, a Super Bowl title, another conference championship game appearance with Jacksonville and 8 playoffs wins in 14 tries. No matter what you think of him personally, that is pretty impressive.
