A deeper look at the Schedule:
Week 1:

Jacksonville Jaguars AT Tennessee Titans:
Opening day starts just like last season, except it's in Tennessee's home turf. Last year we looked horrible against the Titans but put together a solid season nonetheless. Winning our division starts winning on the road, opening the season 1-0 and the division 1-0 is very important. No room for excuses here, the Jaguars must come out hot. read more »

The sports world has no greater spectacle than the Pro Bowl. Therefore, we dispatched Zach Everson to write about the Pro Bowl for us. He's out in Hawaii. Jerk. Here's his final dispatch.
Having witnessed the depressing display of humanity that was Kick-off and Fan Fest, Friday I addressed my melancholia in a manner befitting what I learned in college.
I went on a bender (albeit a tropical bender).
Welcome to the first of a planned extensive line of Resources for the Denver Broncos fan, courtesy of the many minds here at MHR. This initial foray is intended to garner some feedback from the MHR community, and to kick start the finetuning process so that the greatest Draft Resource for Broncos fans on the web will be as good as we can make it!
I would like to start with the Combine, which is right around the corner, starting February 20th and continuing until the 26th. We have many new fans who frequent this site, and not all of them may understand just what the Combine is, or where it fits in the grand scheme of the NFL universe. Fear not! Mile High Report is here for you! read more »

Pats Pulpit's NFL Regular Season Awards
A couple notes: I do not differentiate between AFC and NFC players of the year, nor do I select offensive and defensive rookies. I also ran out of steam toward the end, and with games coming up this weekend, I just needed to wrap this up, so the discussions get a little thinner as you go along.
I'm looking forward to your feedback on this one. Let's hear your picks.
(Here a my selections from last year for your entertainment.)
Most Valuable Player
You know what's funny? What's funny is when some people allege that the Patriots played to get Tom Brady records. The say he "forced the ball" to Randy Moss to break records. But the evidence does not support that. read more »

A lot of message boards (for any sports team really) can get extraordinarily negative at times. I've noticed traffic often increases here when things are going poorly. Of course, since Niners Nation started at the tail end of 2006, there's nothing to really compare it too. The whole point is that I've occasionally seen people write that Frank Gore has only had one good year and thus shouldn't be ranked as high as he is any various projections. I find that to be somewhere between laughable and total BS. When you set the franchise rushing record, and follow it up with 1,100 yards on one of the worst offenses in NFL history, you're not a one-shot wonder. read more »
Yesterday's post about the coaching staff made me stop to think about what other coaches around the league I might enjoy having as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Doing a comparison of who is 'better' between the list of current NFL head coaches and Tomlin is futile, as Tomlin simply doesn't have enough on his resume to justify any sort of hierarchical status among the league's better coaches. We think he is, but only time will tell if the rest of the league and its fans come to the same conclusion. So, instead, a look at the rest:
Wade Phillips, Dallas Cowboys: Not the right guy for this group in Pittsburgh. We'll see how he does now that Parcells is raiding all the talent he had been stockpiling in Big-D. A 2008 date with the Steelers already has me excited. read more »
**Warning: This article contains opinions
The last 2 articles that I've written were similar in that they were putting numbers and statistics to the test in order to prove that Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall aren't just good, but potentially great. Moreover, I wanted to show that both players were better than most star players at the same age and experience level.
This entry focuses less on the player's eventual ability to be a "great' and more on the player's ability to be on the field more often and touch the ball more.
In working through my research on Brandon Marshall's YAC numbers, I came across the realization that RBs actually have much higher YAC numbers than most receivers due to catching the ball in space with a blocker or two in some cases. I was shocked to discover how high Selvin Young ranked on the list though. read more »
