The rich got richer in the 2008 NFL Draft as many of the teams with the highest marks in my book were also teams that went deep into the playoffs in 2007 and look to be there again in 2008 with an infusion of NFL ready young talent. Here is how I graded out the NFC: The winners: Dallas Cowboys: A The Cowboys come up a winner in the 2008 draft in part because they obtained an additional 1st round pick from Cleveland for the acquisition of Brady Quinn last year. The Cowboys made the most of their fortune by grabbing a great complimentary back in Felix Jones even though Rashard Mendenhall was still on the board. I think Dallas went into this draft targeting Jones because he would be a great second punch after Marion Barber. read more »
All right, football zealots. Finally, a televised NFL game (for lack of a better word). It's the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Redskins . John Madden has been dipped in bronze gravy for this joyous occasion, and Al Michaels will be sitting on his knee. Before you follow along after the J-M-P, please turn in your signed and notarized waiver forms saying I will not be held responsible for you getting bored to death sometime in the third quarter. *** 11:01 — And Mike Hart runs to the goalline, but he's just short, and time expired. And Appalachian State holds on to w... oh, sorry. Wrong game. Well, here's the important part. We all survived the game. Furthermore, we know exactly what Brett Favre is doing right now. I thank you for not taking a drink every time they said Favre's name. Not only because it's dangerous, but because it's not creative. Ted Thompson has already been doing that for the last month. Catch y'all on the next live blog. Refresh the page on your way out, please. 10:59 — With 14 seconds left, the Colts call a timeout. 14 seconds left. They're down by two touchdowns. John Madden doesn't even consider this the preseason yet. They call a time.ou.t. 10:56 — BRETT FAVRE UPDATE: Brett Favre has actually been asleep for the last two hours. He's currently going through the rapid-eye moment phase of sleep. Stay tuned for further updates. 10:55 — Pierre Garcon returns the kickoff to midfield. I have trouble believing Pierre Garcon is an actual garon. Where's his cedille? read more »
I'm sure everyone will be on the collective edge of their seats for preseason football. So, I thought I'd follow the lead of Daily Norseman and Big Cat Country, who published the times preseason games will be re-shown on the NFL Network. The Network will be airing 54 preseason games in 26 days, so if you REALLY love football, it's definitely worth checking out. All times listed are PACIFIC. read more »
Brett Favre explains his side of the Favre v. the Green Bay Packers crapstorm in this lengthy interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. Favre admits that a lot of the drama is on him, and that he understands the Packers position. But he still wants out.
Unfortunately for Brett Favre it looks like Green Bay is gonna stick to their guns and relegate him ... read more »
If you'd like to know why I've specifically spent all of my life on either the west or east coast, let me present you with this.
Thanks to a couple of seriously bored Wisconsinites, Brett Favre is now literally everywhere, including a cornfield that's visible from the sky . In other words, time to cross Wisconsin off the list of future vacation sites (not that I was ever planning on ... read more »
Dallas
1) CB ? Newman and Henry are a fine combo and comprise one of the better units in the league, but the team has no nickel or dime depth behind them.
2) RB ? You can argue til you?re blue in the face about whether or not Marion Barber is the full time answer. But the fact remains that he?s the only RB on the roster, so the team needs depth.
3) NT ? Dallas was desperate enough at the all important 3-4 nose tackle position that they gave Tank Johnson a shot last year, and now Jason Ferguson is gone as well.
4) WR ? It doesn?t look like Terry Glenn is going to come back from injury any time soon. Pat Crayton has developed well, but Tony Romo needs another target to start developing as TO ages.
The cornerback from Tennessee State is among the fastest-rising hopefuls among pro scouts. Long Beach State's Mark Seay also played missing a kidney.
